Initial Blood Work

Your blood work is a reflection of your internal organ function and can reveal how well treatments are working for you. Naturopathic Doctors request the same routine blood work as Medical Doctors. ¬†Additionally, ND’s are qualified to draw blood from patients and send it to standard medical laboratories for analysis.

What is your Doctor not checking on your routine blood work?

Unfortunately, most annual medical check-ups involve only routine blood tests. Far too often, this blood work does not test for important markers of disease risk. As a Naturopathic Doctor, I am constantly educating people about the importance of specific markers that are often missed during routine testing. These markers include B12, Iron, ferritin, Vitamin D, CRP (inflammatory marker), sex hormones and liver enzymes.

Do you know what your blood work means?

Does your Medical Doctor review your test results with you in depth? Dr. Tara makes sure you understand your blood results so that you can better understand why specific treatment recommendations are important and how you can improve any markers of concner.

Dr. Tara has a working relationship with standard blood labs offering the very best in specialized and routine lab testing. Gamma-Dynacare Laboratory is conveniently located one major intersection away from the clinic.

Naturopathic blood work is not covered by OHIP. Costs will vary depending on the test(s). Many patients prefer immediate care rather than booking another appointment with their MD to obtain the necessary requisition.

*Requisitions for past blood work, X-rays and other test results may be faxed from your Medical Doctor
